Interesting East Tennessee Press:
Northeast Tennessee has founded the 1st green building council in the State of Tennessee and the 12th in the country. The purpose of the council is to work with builders in educating the public and municipalities of the benefits of building green. The council has worked with area cities and counties in developing financial incentives for going green.

The Tri-Cities was named one of the top 5 public golf course destinations by Golf Digest, noting some specific courses that shouldn’t be missed in Bristol and Johnson City.

The Tri-Cities of Tennessee was ranked just above Pittsburgh as the number 2 rated “Safe haven in Real Estate” by Kiplinger.com. The study noted that East Tennessee State University has continued to help fuel growth. The publication also states that education, healthcare, and manufacturing jobs remain the backbone of the job market.

The Tri-Cities was ranked the 3rd highest rate of home price appreciation in 2009 when most markets were depreciating. The study showed that the area beat out more well-known areas for price appreciation like Raleigh (NC), Greenville (SC), and Boulder (CO).

Pal’s Restaurants (a local chain) were winners of the Malcolm Baldridge Award- the only restaurant to ever win the coveted award for business and innovation.
